Sometimes you can understand why you feel anxious or overwhelmed and still feel stuck.
You may know your triggers. You may understand your past. You may even know what you "should" do but your body continues to react with tension, anxiety, exhaustion, shutdown, or a sense that something isn't right.
Somatic therapy offers another way to understand your experience by bringing awareness to the connection between your mind, emotions, nervous system, and body.
Through this work, we slow down and become curious about what your body may be communicating, helping you develop greater self-awareness and respond to life with more choice and intention.

Somatic therapy is a body-aware approach that recognizes that difficult experiences can influence not only our thoughts and emotions, but also how we experience and respond to the world through our bodies.
Stress and trauma can affect the way we breathe, hold tension, sleep, respond to relationships, experience emotions, and perceive safety.
Rather than focusing only on "What's wrong?", somatic work invites us to ask:
"What is happening within me right now?"
Together, we explore physical sensations, emotions, thoughts, patterns, and responses with curiosity and without judgment.
The goal isn't to force your body to relax or to relive painful experiences. Instead, we work toward developing a deeper understanding of yourself and your responses so you can have greater flexibility in how you respond.

Somatic therapy may be helpful if you're experiencing:

My approach is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and collaborative, integrating somatic principles to help you better understand your body, emotions, and patterns.
I integrate somatic principles with evidence-based approaches, including CBT, TF-CBT, Prolonged Exposure, and mindfulness, based on your individual needs and goals.
Somatic work doesn't mean ignoring your thoughts or personal story. Instead, we consider the whole person mind, body, emotions, relationships, culture, and environment to better understand your experience and support meaningful change.
Your cultural background and lived experiences are an important part of how we understand your healing. As a bilingual therapist, I offer therapy in English and Spanish, creating space for you to explore your experiences in the language that feels most natural to you.

When your body feels like it's always on alert
Somatic therapy can help you notice the physical and emotional patterns connected to anxiety, chronic stress, overthinking, and feeling overwhelmed. Together, we develop greater awareness of your body's signals and explore ways to respond with more intention.

When your past still shows up in the present
Trauma can affect how you experience safety, relationships, emotions, and your body. Somatic work can help you recognize protective patterns, process difficult experiences at a manageable pace, and develop a greater sense of connection with yourself.

When you're ready to feel more aligned
Major transitions can leave you questioning what you want, need, or even who you are becoming. Somatic work helps you slow down, listen inward, and develop greater self-awareness so you can make decisions that feel more aligned with you.
